MyWelfare and MyGovID

MyWelfare.ie is the Department of Social Protection's online service. You log in with MyGovID. A basic account (email and password) is enough for a PPS number; payments, declarations and appeals need a verified account, which requires a Public Services Card and a verified mobile.

How to get a verified account

  1. Already have a PSC? Log in to your basic account on MyGovID.ie and verify it with your PSC and mobile number.
  2. No PSC, but a current Irish passport? Use the MyGovID app on your phone. If approved, you get a PSC by post and a verified account.
  3. Otherwise: do SAFE registration at a PSC centre. Bring your mobile so staff can verify your number there.

Can't use MyWelfare?

Every jobseeker's payment can still be claimed in person at an Intreo Centre or Branch Office, or on paper (email [email protected] for form UP1). For the Community Welfare Service, contact the CWS team listed on your office's page.
